Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information A Bead Shop collects, why we collect it, and what you can ask us to do with it. It applies to everything you do on this website.
Who we are
This website is operated by [COMPANY NAME] ([BUSINESS REGISTRATION NO.]), [ADDRESS], Hong Kong. For anything in this policy, write to us at [EMAIL].
What we collect, and why
When you place an order
Your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number, and what you bought. We need this to take your order, send it to you, and keep the accounting records the law requires us to keep. If you give us a courier account number so we can ship on your own account, we use it only for that shipment.
When you pay
We never see or store your card number. Payments are handled by our payment provider, who takes the card details directly. We receive only confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the last few digits of the card so we can match it to your order.
When you join our mailing list
Your email address, and the page you signed up from. We use it to send you news about new pieces, restocks and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time, and every email we send will tell you how.
When you save favourites
The pieces you heart are stored in your own browser, not on our servers. We cannot see them, and they disappear if you clear your browser data or switch device.
When you simply browse
Our hosting provider and analytics record standard technical information: pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, browser and device type, and the site you arrived from. We use this to understand what people look at and to keep the site working. See our Cookie Policy for the detail.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.
Who we share it with
We use outside companies to run parts of this shop. They may store and process your information on our behalf, on our instructions, and only for the purpose we give them. They are:
- Our website host, which stores the site and its database.
- Our payment provider, to take payment and handle refunds and chargebacks.
- Couriers, who need your name, address and phone number to deliver.
- Email and marketing providers, to send order confirmations and, if you have asked for them, our newsletters.
- Analytics providers, to tell us how the site is being used.
- Customs authorities, where an international shipment requires a declaration.
- Professional advisers and authorities, where we are legally obliged.
These providers change over time as the shop grows. Some of them — for example large email, hosting and analytics companies — operate globally, which means your information may be held on their servers outside your own country. When we take on a new provider that handles your personal information, we update this policy.
Where your information goes
We are based in Hong Kong, and our suppliers operate internationally, so your information may be stored or processed outside your own country. Where we transfer information out of the EEA or the UK, we rely on the safeguards those rules require of us.
How long we keep it
- Order records: seven years, which is the retention period our tax and accounting obligations require.
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe.
- Analytics: as held by our analytics provider, in aggregate.
Your rights
You may ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
- correct anything that is wrong;
- delete information we no longer need to keep;
- stop using your information for marketing — always, and immediately;
- restrict or object to how we use it, or ask for it in a portable form.
Write to [EMAIL] and we will deal with it. If you are in the EU or the UK, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Direct marketing
We will only use your contact details to market to you if you have asked us to. You can withdraw that at any time, at no cost, by using the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to [EMAIL]. We will stop.
Children
This shop is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The version published here is the one that applies. If we make a material change to how we use your information, we will bring it to your attention rather than rely on you noticing.
